Rho Chapter- Newark, NJ

Chartered in June 2023, the Rho Chapter was chartered by a small but dedicated group of women from New York and New Jersey who believed in building a sisterhood rooted in care, accountability, and collective growth. In a short time, Rho Chapter has grown into a strong and connected community, now 16 Sorors strong, committed to meaningful service and authentic connection throughout the Newark area.

Guided by the affirmation “We Are Our Sister’s Keeper,” Rho Chapter prioritizes unity, support, and responsibility within sisterhood and in the communities we serve. Under the leadership of President Adrianne Grimes and Secretary Elynette Byrd, the chapter has established a culture grounded in joy, fulfillment, and intentional tradition.

Health and wellness advocacy anchors Rho Chapter’s impact. Our signature initiative, Healing Together: A Movement for Black Wellness, focuses on addressing health disparities through education, mental health resources, screenings, and advocacy for equitable access to care. This work reflects our belief that informed communities are empowered communities.

Rho Chapter also remains deeply engaged in food security, cancer awareness, and community outreach. Through ongoing partnerships with local food banks, churches, and health organizations, we provide consistent, hands-on service that responds to real community needs.

Beyond service, Rho Chapter values connection and growth. Through bonding experiences, recruitment mixers, and shared traditions, we strengthen our internal foundation while welcoming women who align with our values and commitment to service.

Rho Chapter continues to build a legacy of leadership and excellence, recently celebrating the appointment of one of our Sorors to Regional Director, a testament to the strength and impact of our Newark-based sisterhood.
